Modfest 2004, written by mrplow on 2004-07-12. Genre: modding.
Modfest 2004 July 10th brought to the UK what I understand to be the first national modding contest. Modfest 2004 was sponsored by, among others, Custom PC magazine and PC World and featured previous winners of Custom PCs own “Readers Drives” monthly case modding competition. All were brought together to battle for the coveted “King of kings” trophy as well as other titles and prizes. Eight previous winners turned up and were joined by next months winner, our own staff and forum member “Carlos”.

MAME-PC arcade cabinet mod, written by Dr Zoidberg on 2003-04-08. Genre: modding.
MAME-PC arcade cabinet mod One day I went round to see my brother who had come back from university bringing home his PC that I had built for him and he called my upstairs and said he had downloaded something he thought I might be interested in. I wandered upstairs expecting to find a new poor sound quality MP3 file and watched him click on something called MAME on the desktop. All of a sudden his PC was playing bombjack, and it wasn't just some copy of the arcade machine, it was the game itself being emulated on a P166.The fact that it played Doom was neither here nor there.

Hard disk window mod So you’re thinking about modding your hard disk? Either that or you just want to look at the nice pictures in this article. :) Well your probably wondering either way, what’s so special about this particular hd as numerous others out there have been putting windows on their hds. This one is topped with glass and instead of the usual hard work in involved in cutting a window in the lid, the whole lid is now glass.

DIY round IDE cables, written by mrplow on 2002-02-04. Genre: modding.
DIY round IDE cables You've probably seen rounded IDE cables on sale in online stores all over the place. The premise is that a round cable obstructs much less air than a big flat ribbon cable. And that's true, it will help the airflow in your case. But shop-bought ones are quite pricey, and you already have cables right? Today we'll look at how to round your existing cables, to help airflow through the case and tidy up the cables so they look nicer through that window of yours :)

GeForce shoot-out - old vs. new, written by various on 2001-09-19. Genre: performance.
GeForce shoot-out - old vs. new GeForce 3... sounds nice dunnit... wow, THREE. That must be better than my geforce 2, cos that's only a TWO, and this is THREE... oooh... Yeah yeah, whatever, stop drooling. Sure it's better, but at £300 to a geforce 2 GTS's £100, its gotta be, ooh, look at that... 3 times better. Hmm... well, is it? Let's see! :D

TClock system customisation, written by mrplow on 2001-09-06. Genre: software.
TClock system customisation tClock allows you to change the default settings of the task bar and start menu. On the right are a variety of desktops, each with different colours and styles on the taskbar (and some l33t background pics, hehe). If you want to do something similar, just follow our instructions :).
