View Full Version : Chair / desk
Ok it's not really computer hardware, but I figured this was the best place to put this.
I'm looking for a cheap but decent chair (upto £50 or so, maybe more) and also maybe a new desk... i need someplace good to get them!
sounds silly but try officeworld! their larger stores have loads of chairs etc and most on sale or discount!

dunno if u have a costco near you but that's where I got my chair. very big, very comfy and a lot cheaper than you would pay in office world.
You could try looking for a store that sells used office furniture as well. I've only ever got a filling cabinet from one but it's worth a try. The prices should be pretty reasonable and they prob be open to a bit of barganing
Get the JERKER Desk from Ikea, full steel frame, huge table space and a shelf all for £75.
As for the chair, either wait for your dad's office to clear some out (my mums did and we got 3 good as new pneumatic ones) or go to a second hand office store. Decent chairs cost too much brand new :S

Maj
i wouldnt give ikea £75 of my money
ikea is cack :o
went to staples today, nothing much there except a reasonably nice desk for £45 and a lovely soft leather chair for £110 which I was oh so tempted by ;) other than that some ok chairs for £60ish
Hmmm, thats not what you said last time we went to IKEA :P Also, you want a nice sold table that isn't gonna bow under the weight of a fat 19" screen :) The JERKER has a square steel frame that the "desk" screws into, and its this steel frame that screws into the legs... its rock steady
yeh, but... its called a jerker... :S

ok dash is half right, go to ikea - my desk is a ****in beats! Basically you don't want some n00b desk designed for computers because you'll never have any space to work. What Ikea do is have a whole load of tops and a whole load of legs and varous lengths of steel frame bits and you just buy what ya need. They are very good - only if ya got the space tho...
note: hopefully the picture will work out better this time :D

EDIT (mrplow): nice desk... image is a bit on the big side so i shrunk it, here is ur desk
lol, ok well there it is again :S
office world Salford Manchester! Ikea still the best for function over form like Donkey said... my desk single metal pillar with "leaf-like" extensions! very cool but wobbles! got one of those seats that "fold" your knees underneath, good for back and looks ace!
u like that chair? i seen lots of them about, a mate used to have one and it was kinda funky but i dunno if it would be comfortable to use all the time... :hmm:
well after a year still undecided! I would still go for the typical office chair next time but they do hurt your back as I am very comfy in my funky back chair! hard to say, try one! mine only cost £40!
WHY DONT YOU BREAK OUT OF THE BOX AND BE DIFFERENT, WHY DONT YOU USE A BIG CARD BOARD BOX FOR A DESK WITH A MATCHING CRATE FOR THE CHAIR, IT WOULD LOOK ESPECIALLY NICE IF YOU HAVE A MODDED CASE, PREFERABLY A CARDBOARD BOX MOD, LOL, GOTTA ACCESORIZE AND MATCH. ILL TAKE PICTURES OF MY SETUP NEXT TIME, JUST DONT GOT MY CAM, NOTHING MATCHES, BUT ITZ PRETTY COMFY AND COOL LOOKING.
hehe, the funniest thing about that is my chair came in a massive L-shape box, thats actually pretty good as a chair itself
ps, hit the caps lock key, bwoy ;)
Mine came this morning timmeh... although I got the catalogue too and the office chair I have already cost double the price of the new leather one... :hmm:
OMG, what was your budget again, Timmeh?
