This film is totally inc... no I'm not gonna say that... it's really really really good!
A superb mix of spoof/send-off and actual superhero action, any fans of superhero films or stories, or Bond-like action and adventure will love this departure from Pixars recent style - it's much less of a kids film than, say, Finding Nemo or even the adult-friendly Toy Story films. The Incredibles is not a childrens film, in fact I wouldn't recommend taking young children to see it at all. Explosions, gun fights, *gulp* deaths... it's all there in droves. But constant comedy is there too, I think I was grinning through the entire film with the occasional chuckle (and perhaps one or two minor guffaws too) at especially funny moments.
Family values are at the heart of the 2 parents and 2.4 children superhero team, and are explored via the family members' various superpowers. The father is big and strong but lacking some finer points of intelligence. The mother, with her elastic powers, is always "stretching" to her limits to hold the family together (or even to keep them alive). Son is a bundle of energy, always running around and wanting action - his superpower is lightning speed - and the young daughter, constantly hiding behind her hair as so many insecure teenage girls might, has the power to completely disappear.
Pitted against a supervillian the family must work together to defeat him using the combined might of their powers. The supervillian of course has the usual array of deadly mega-weapons and a secret lair hidden away on his own tropical island, as well as an army of useless and helplessly stupid drones to protect him. He's even tempted into the standard villian-hero lectures.. almost..
It's a really great film, I would recommend it to anyone. But like I said it's not a kids cartoon.
Fantastic.
Awh, hell.
Incredible!
EDIT: To remove minor spoiler... Dash
