Nexuiz is a completely free GPL'd online shooter. It can trace it's origins back to Quake and it really does look very nice. Strongly recommend it to you all:

The artwork is a bit mixed but it is nice to see that this sort of graphical niceity can be done for free.

the website does nothing for me wanting to try the game. I closed the window within 15 seconds

cool that stuff like this exists - must be a real chore to programme games, especially in such a competative market

tbh a much more promissing completly free online shooter. Its much better known as well, even if it is still in the dev stage.

TBH nosferatu looks better, its more clearly set out and they know exactly what they are doing, and its more interesting that what looks to me like a clear UT rip off.

Fecking true, apart from as far as i care UT = Quake as they are simmilar themes tbh. Both got aliens and crazy weapons.

they both look dated though - impressive for open source but i fear nobody will ever play them...

lol.

Speaking from personal experaince, and this view reflects a lot of the open source community, I dont give a crap how many people play my game. Were making them to learn how to. Trust me, thats why i never post news about my mod on the main sites, i dont want to deal with the n00b kids who dont know how to install a mod on steam ect. The reason i'm doing it is to learn how, and projects like this are great examples of that.
