The Battlefield 2 1.02 patch is out and available from EA. You can find the patch by clicking "upgrade" on the autorun menu, or just go directly to the website:

http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/downloads.jsp

The file is 16.3MB, not too awful. Hopefully it will speed up connecting to servers, and maybe my awful framerate (unlikely)

I'll download this once the game arrives (hopefully within 5 days  )

Nice patch, it buggered my BF 2 tho. :(

So... not so nice at all then.

My BF2 is buggered anyway... 15-25fps on an x800 pro? :frown:

Yeah. I only get 20fps at 800x600!

Same. Reinstalled drivers twice. Sucks. *Sometimes* it works reasonably smoothly, although still only about 30.

the demo ran well for me - is the game a lot worse than the demo?

Seems to be

I get a very playable 25fps+. Settings are medium everything with the resolution at 1680x1050 (http://www.techangel.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/custom/cool.gif), on a 9800 Pro.

Plow, do you have AC97 sound? I do and it destroyed my framerate till I found out there's a bug whereby hardware acceleration doesn't work properly. Try running dxdiag and setting hardware acceleration to basic, then see if that helps :)

That's weird I kept wondering if it was a sound thing.

I have a Live 5.1 (Player!) card but I haven't installed any drivers (I really don't think it needs any, does it?)
I do turn on hardware and EAX usually.

Try it on software and see if it makes a difference, it did for me :S
