Just wanting a program to convert my un compressed mpegs from my mini dv cam to divX or some other sexeh codec. Anyone use anything for that?

So it's kind of important now. We've been set an assignment from college to compress images and videos in different ways and talk about how they work and how they're different. So failing virtualdub, whcih I couldn't fathom, are there any good video compression suites available?

If you need to talk about formats I'd suggest doing OGG Theora as it's interesting. I'd also talk about Dirac which is the BBC's forthcoming 2D wavelet ubercodec.
