I have often thought wireless electricity would be cool bit didn't think it would be possible. These clever chaps seem to think it might work!

That's pretty cool

But is it better than a shirt-air-guitar..?

In other news, I actually did this kinda thing for my second year group project at uni. It was a pad like this thing > http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/2861987.stm
It even almost-worked!

Yeah, read about that as I was bored at my desk yesterday. Looks pretty damn cool. My concern is it's efficiency. Transformers use a lot of power as it is, so what's this thing gonna munch through? And in these days of saving energy, is it viable?

Another form of witchcraft for ignorant peasants to campaign against. Is it really necessary? And how would you tell if something is connected or not? Sounds very wasteful and confusing.

Transformers are just about the most efficent electrical devices you can have. It will be pretty efficient because its only transforming energy into a different form then back again, and I can't see that much heat being produced during the process.
