This conversation took place via email, when I discovered the washer was missing from my window kit.

At 1 email per line this took a while, you may want to read the questions and responses an hour apart to get the full effect. ;)

Me> Hello,
I bought one of these from you recently
http://www2.theoverclockingstore.co.uk/productinfo.php?basket_session=da4ffe93ce089c2e299fcdb688bd2ba0&codeid=800217
but there is no washer (referred to in the fitting instructions, can you send me one please?

OCS> Hi,
Is the product you mean as this is a rectangle window which doesn't come
with any washers.

Me> The product is a small rectangle window that specifically
mentions the washer in the instruction sheet that came with the kit.

OCS> Yes it says you can use one to draw out the template but it doesn't actually come with one.

Me> Ok, kind of hard to mark out a proper hole without one though.
Several modders (who use OCS regularly) thought it was very odd indeed that there was no washer supplied.
Never mind, I live close to a B&Q, I'm sure I'll find what I need there.

OCS> Ok I think the old stock of windows that came in had one with it but
these new ones do not come with them anymore unfortunately.

Me> Could you tell me the correct size washer to use?

OCS> I suppose it needs to be a similar size to the moulding but I'm not too
sure.

Well, won't be using them again. :frown:

I think I got what I needed in B&Q, but of course I had to buy 6 washers! It wasn't the money that was the point of contention here, just the complete lack of customer service.

aw, OCS are ok. sounds to me like the slightly-clueless bloke/bird on the end of the email was trying to be helpful... even if they weren't.

i spose they could have answered all of your queries in their first reply, you would have thought they'd know what you meant. like..

OCS> Hi,
Is the product you mean as this is a rectangle window which doesn't come with any washers unfortunately. The old stock did include these, but the new ones don't. If you have access to a diy store or another source, you simply need a washer the size of the depth of the moulding, i'm sorry i can't give you a proper measurement.

i have no idea why i just wrote that... anyway, OCS are generally ok, and if ur ordering small stuff they're great cos there's no postage.
