First off, I would like to thank everglide for providing these for us to review, go check them out at www.everglide.com or www.everglide.co.uk, they ship internationally. There is a sale on at time of writing, and all their products are now offered at a lower cost, don't miss the opportunity to get some quality stuff cheap. Now onto the review.
Problem even before the review:
Ok, I ordered a couple things from everglide, but they will be reviewed separately...

Lots of foam peanuts, now we embark on a journey |
|
...so here is the scenario, I received the package from the ups guy, I opted to pay for the 2nd day shipping, it was a couple bucks more but it was worth it if you live on the east coast, the factory that sent it out was located in Texas, US. I had the box, it seemed a bit weak, but I opened it and there was a decent amount of foam peanuts. I ruffled through it and out comes the two mouse pads, the Everglide optical smoke attack pad and the larger Everglide optical smoke giganta pad. Ok, I keep on looking in the box, and here is the pc-tote, and then the mouse skates, but what is this, there is no mouse bungee or wrist rest. I paid extra to get these but they weren't there, I have to wait for everglide to send them to me. On a side note, Everglide responded with amazing time and they are shipping them to me ASAP, and shipping is not extra, that's a plus. Very good customer help, no worries if you order from them. They will be reviewed later anyways, so onto the Everglide optical smoke attack mouse pad.
My first impression of the mouse pad was "wow."
It looked really good, but it was not as big as I thought it would be, but that can be a good thing if you have little space.

The rubber feet |
|
I looked around the mouse a bit, its very hard, sturdy; there were also rubber feet on the bottom, six to be exact. That is to prevent it from moving during heavy gaming.
The mouse pad was not transparent; it was opaque so it gave it a more solid look. I must say that this was one badass looking mouse pad, it will fit perfect with a black themed modified computer and setup.

Testing:
I will be using both a ball and optical mouse.
Normal Use - Ball Mouse
Originally, I was using my wood surface, but as soon as I put the optical smoke, I noticed a difference already, it seemed much smoother, and the curve where you put your wrist also feels nice. I have a dual monitor setup, and when I went from one screen to the other, I still had plenty of mousing room, and this is with the smaller version. After a few minutes of doing normal mouse movements, ie: browsing through folders, click on various things, I went back to my wood surface, I was able to feel the mouse lag on some parts and which parts of the surface was dirty. Now onto gaming.
(The game used will be Counter-Strike ver 1.5)
Gaming - Ball Mouse
I tried counter strike without the mouse pad first for a couple of rounds, but then I went to the attack pad. Not only were my moves smoother, but also I never picked up my hand to realign the mouse, I do that out of habit because my surface is not the best. I always had a good amount of surface room. It was very solid with a ball mouse, but how does it work with an optical mouse?
Normal Use - Optical Mouse
The mouse I used had its rubber feet worn out, I also had a friend use it because it was his and he knows how it handles. I used it on the wood surface for a few minutes, and the worn out feet really hurt the smoothness. Then I went onto the mouse pad, and let me tell you, there was no lag at all. Even though the feet were so bad, it glided effortlessly. My friend was also amazed. Now onto the games.
Gaming - Optical Mouse
Yet again, I tried it on my normal surface. With the feet as bad as they were, I was getting killed so many times, I could not react as fast because how the feet were, maybe some mouse skates will help, but when I went onto the pad, it was just as spectacular as normal use. It glided so easily that you would have never known that the rubber was basically gone. It was no problem getting headshot after headshot; in fact, I got four headshots in a row with an ak-47. I let my friend have a go, and he was even more impressed on how well the mouse pad worked in gaming.
Conclusion
I really like this mouse pad; it is of solid construction, looks nice, and very smooth movements in gaming and just normal desktop browsing. I only wish that the top were smoother to the touch. Those ridges do help a lot though. I really enjoyed this mouse pad, it was not too big, and I am on a low supply of room. This mouse pad scores very well, not only does it make my movements smoother on both a mouse and an optical, but it also looks very stylish. I do not see anything wrong with the mouse pad, and with it priced at $16.95 (£17.99 for us UK dwellers -Ed) it's a great deal. I would give the optical smoke attack pad by Everglide a 10 out of 10.
Pros:
Solid construction
Nice design
Very smooth movements with mouse
Does not move around thanks to the rubber feet
Smooth movements even when mouse feet are gone
Cons:
Top is a bit too rough for me (personal preference)
