First, thankyou to So Chilled to sending us the Badge Lite kit to try out, they're a pretty new UK store but the range is getting better all the time, and they're a friendly bunch so don't be scared to drop them an email or a call. Cheers Nige.

Right, so what do we have here? The Badge Lite kit (made by GamerzStuff.com according to the enclosed literature) is a simple idea - a diffused LED to fit behind a case badge, offering it lumination. It's simple design means it can be used with any translucent case badge, and its very easy to install. Lets have a look at the kit:

Don't worry about the faint light in that last picture, the camera flash drowns it out.
All that you have to do to use the Badge Lite is remove that brown paper, and stick on your chosen case badge. I chose the So-Chilled badge I was sent, along with some other bits and bobs.

Stuck on

I think the alcohol swab is for cleaning your case before sticking the Badge Lite on, but I just squeezed it out into my mouth... :X Hey, I'm a student after all.
So... there's not really much more to be said about this, lets get on with trying it out. Unfortunately (for me) I was sent a red light kit. I was holding out for a blue, which really would have worked MUCH better with the So-Chilled badge, but alas got a red one. Oh well, we can still get a look at how it works. I semi-mounted it (i.e. with blu tack) to my old case bezel, as I don't yet know where to put it permanently. Lets take some piccies!

Flash on:

Can't really see much brightness with the flash on, so lets turn it off.

Flash off:

And there you have it. Redness. I don't think this case badge was a very good choice... it's mostly white, so it just goes the colour of the LED behind it. A blue one would have looked great, but red really overcomes the detail of the badge. Still, you can see the logo slightly better in real life than in this photo...

Conclusion

The Case Badge Lite kits can be found here at So-Chilled. At £15 they aren't all that cheap, but available in "Ice Blue", "Deep Yellow" and "Fire Red" you should be able to match your case style.
I won't lie to you, the Badge Lite aint all that. It's quite a good idea, and it's been well made, but it's such a simple concept that really you could easily do it yourself, and probably better. For £5 this would be a nice little extra for the case with everything. For £15 it's a little extravagent, although if you want a case like Las Vegas, and have a bank balance like you've just had a lucky week there, then this is for you.

On a side note, the So-Chilled case badges are really, really nice! At £1.50 with no delivery charge, why not pick one of those up instead (or as well).

Back in the old days a case was just a box you plonked the computer in. Now it's an integral part of your cooling system as well, and this one is trying something a bit new. Luckily, and importantly, it also looks rather natty.
Enermax are no stranger to the scene. They've been producing top flight power supplies for yonks and have tried there hand at case design on a few occasions too. This, the CS-718 released under the company's

The evolution of waterblock design has been to eek as much cooling performance from systems as possible without introducing brute force methods like bigger radiators or faster, louder, cooling fans. A while back I took a look at the Alphacool NexXxoS Pro HP block which, back then, was a bit of an arse kicker. Here we'll have a look at a new block with a big ambition: to beat the HP and its peers.

So what do we have here? Well, we have a well built, very attractive, solid hard working power supply. But it does come with a price tag to match. As mentioned earlier it's not as expensive as high-end power supplies used to be (although Enermax do produce a ~£100 unit, so I suppose this is their mid-range effort) but compared to other brands it is still an expensive choice. HiPer, Super Flower, Tagan and Antec all make similarly specced units at lower prices, but whether they are as polished (quality-wise, as well as the literal meaning) as this Enermax unit is something I cannot comment on.

I think it's obvious from what I've said so far that I love this case. It is truly sublime, everything about it is near perfect. From the sleek styling of the outside to the excellent features inside such as the removable drive caddies and motherboard tray, the functionality of the inside matches the looks of the outside.
